Drone services in Madrid, coordinated in English

Madrid is one of the most rewarding places in Spain to film from the air and one of the most regulated. Much of the capital and its ring, from the Castellana towers to the villas of Pozuelo and the sheds of the Corredor del Henares, sits in controlled airspace linked to Madrid-Barajas, Cuatro Vientos, Getafe and Torrejón. So we start every job with the exact address, not with a camera.

Our clients write to us in English and often sit outside Spain: an agency in London producing a campaign for a Spanish brand, a relocation consultant documenting a house in Boadilla for a family that has not yet flown over, an events team at IFEMA, a company that wants its Madrid office in the annual report. Brief, quote and delivery happen in English; the paperwork with Spanish authorities happens in Spanish, and you never touch it.

We provide certified professional pilots, an insured operation run by a registered operator in line with the UAS regulations, prices in euros, a written quote within 24 hours and edited material about 48 hours after the flight. Travel inside the Comunidad de Madrid is included. Everything runs through the quote form, and answers come in writing, ready to forward to your client or finance team.

Where we fly in Madrid and what it means for your booking

Orientation only: before quoting we check the exact address against the current UAS geographic zones on the ENAIRE Drones map and coordinate what each case needs.

  • Central districts: Centro, Salamanca, Chamberí, Retiro, ChamartínUrban environment under the Madrid-Barajas control zone: coordination and often a public-road occupation permit from the City Council. Plan on 7–15 days.
  • Barajas, Valdebebas, IFEMA and Campo de las NacionesClosest to the airport. Heights are often capped, frequently at 60 m, and coordination is the norm; workable with the right lead time.
  • Cuatro Vientos and the south-westStricter limits around the aerodrome, heights often around 45 m nearby. Low shots of a property or facade remain possible; skyline shots usually not.
  • Getafe, Torrejón de Ardoz and Colmenar ViejoThe Getafe and Torrejón air bases and military airspace near Colmenar Viejo shape what is allowed. Industrial estates are often workable with coordination.
  • El Retiro, Casa de Campo and Madrid RíoMunicipal restrictions apply on top of the airspace rules. We normally propose an alternative viewpoint with a similar background instead.
  • El Pardo, Sierra de Guadarrama and protected spacesProtected natural areas, with the Cuenca Alta del Manzanares and the Parque Regional del Sureste, have their own conditions; flown only with specific authorisation.
  • North-west belt: Pozuelo, Las Rozas, Majadahonda, BoadillaVillas, office campuses and golf-side homes. Many addresses pass the standard check; some need coordination, and the quote says which.
  • Sierra and south-east: El Escorial, Aranjuez, Chinchón, ArgandaLargely outside the control zones: standard review, shorter lead times and simpler planning for rural estates, wedding venues, hotels and warehouses.

Indicative. We check the exact address against the current UAS geographic zones before confirming any flight.

How a Madrid booking works

Five steps, all in English on your side.

  1. Send the briefUse the quote form: exact address or a map pin, preferred date, the service you need and the deliverables. Attach a reference or shot list if you have one.
  2. Feasibility and written quote in 24 hoursWe check the address against the UAS geographic zones, note the control zone and probable height limit, and reply with a written quote in English: price, lead time, inclusions.
  3. Coordination where neededFor urban or controlled-airspace addresses we coordinate what the case requires: airspace coordination, public-road occupation with the City Council, notice to the Ministry of the Interior where it applies (usually five days). Allow 7–15 days.
  4. Flight dayA certified pilot flies the agreed plan under an insured operation. Join on site and follow the shots on a monitor; we watch wind and light and reschedule at no cost if the weather turns.
  5. Delivery in about 48 hoursEdited photos and clips arrive by download link about two days after the flight, in labelled folders, with the invoice in euros. Longer edits are flagged in the quote.

What you receive after the flight

Fixed in the quote, a standard Madrid package includes:

Hire a drone operator or drone videographer in Madrid

The two requests we hear most often from abroad are hire a drone operator for a day and find a drone videographer in Madrid. Same booking, different emphasis. A half day or a full day, quoted individually within 24 hours, gives you a pilot, aircraft, batteries and a planned flight list. The videographer version adds a shot plan built around your story, colour grading and an edit: a finished film rather than a folder of clips.

Typical days: a property agency books a morning across three villas in Pozuelo de Alarcón and La Moraleja and receives 25 photos and a 60-second clip per house; a production company hires a full day for establishing shots of the Castellana skyline from Chamartín, coordination handled in the weeks before. In each case the exact figure is fixed in the written quote before a date is confirmed.

For foreign crews: commercial drone flights in Spain are run by registered operators and, in urban Madrid, need coordination that takes time. Bringing your own drone from the UK or the US for a professional shoot in the capital is rarely practical; hiring a Spanish operator for the aerial part while your crew handles the ground is the usual, cheaper route.

Invoicing, files and working from outside Spain

We invoice in euros from Spain, payable by bank transfer, with VAT shown separately. If your company is VAT-registered in another EU member state, give us your VAT number in the brief and the invoice is issued to that entity; clients in the UK, the US or elsewhere receive the same invoice in euros. Every figure we quote excludes VAT.

Deliveries go out as a secure download link with folders labelled by address and shot type, usable from any country without a Spanish account. Photos are high-resolution JPEG, originals on request; video is 4K, with vertical cuts if requested. Tell us if your editor needs a specific frame rate, log profile or codec.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Before you request a quote.

Tell us about your project
Can you fly a drone in central Madrid?

Often, with coordination. The centre is an urban environment inside the Madrid-Barajas control zone, so a shoot in Salamanca or Chamberí usually needs airspace coordination, sometimes a public-road occupation permit, and 7–15 days of lead time. Some addresses are not viable; we say so in the quote and suggest an angle that works.

How much does it cost to hire a drone operator in Madrid?

Projects start from €350 excluding VAT, with travel inside the Comunidad de Madrid included. The final figure depends on the address and its airspace, any permit coordination, time on site and the deliverables you need; coordination for controlled or urban addresses is itemised in the written quote. Your quote arrives within 24 hours with the exact figure.

How far in advance should I book a drone shoot in Madrid?

Outside the control zones, in the Sierra or around Aranjuez, a few days is often enough. For the capital and the ring under Barajas, Cuatro Vientos, Getafe or Torrejón, allow 7–15 days for coordination, more if the City Council or the Ministry of the Interior must be notified. Send the date and we confirm.

Do I need to arrange any permits myself?

No. We check the address against the UAS geographic zones and coordinate what the case needs, from airspace coordination to the City Council's public-road occupation for filming. From you we need the exact address, the intended date and, on private land, the owner's permission. Fees and lead times appear in the quote.

Can you coordinate in English and deliver files to a team abroad?

Yes. Brief, quote, flight-day updates and delivery are all in English; the paperwork with Spanish authorities is ours, in Spanish. Files go out by secure download link in labelled folders, so an editor in London or New York can start the same day, and the invoice is issued in euros to your company.

Do you cover towns around Madrid such as Alcalá, Getafe or Las Rozas?

Yes. Travel inside the Comunidad de Madrid is included, from Alcalá de Henares and the Corredor del Henares to Getafe and Móstoles, Pozuelo, Las Rozas and Majadahonda, and the Sierra towns. Each has its own airspace picture, so the same address check applies. Toledo, Guadalajara and Segovia carry a travel supplement.
